Day 20 is here, and Elf has landed! Now, when I first saw the ink on the glass nib, it was so green that I felt like I’d just stabbed that naughty elf on a shelf! But don’t worry, the little guy is still out there, peeking over your shoulder, waiting to bring some festive mischief—as long as you believe, of course! 😉

Today’s Colour: Elf

Elf is a bold, mischievous green, like the little magical creatures it’s named after. It’s a fun and lively colour that really captures the spirit of Christmas—bright, bold, and just the right amount of holiday cheer.

But here’s a thought: could this ink be an Egregore? You might have heard of an egregore before—an energy or spirit that’s created by the collective belief of a group of people. Now, think of the Elf on the Shelf—that cheeky little character we place around the house to watch over us and keep us in line during the holidays. In a sense, the Elf on the Shelf is an egregore. Each time we put it in a new spot, we breathe life into its playful, mischievous energy, adding to the holiday magic. And now, every time we use Elf ink, the idea of that sneaky little elf watching us (and sometimes causing a little trouble) gives this green ink a bit more magic. It’s like we’re feeding energy into the playful spirit of the elf every time we write with it—so as long as you believe, Elf lives on! ✨🎄

Testing the Ink

• Dominant Industry Ink Muddler (glass nib): The glass nib laid down a light, fresh green—nice for some subtle festive flair. It was a little bit on the light side, but not too shabby for the elves to sneak in quietly!
• Sailor Hocoro (medium nib): The green brightened up a bit here, but still stayed fairly light. It wasn’t until I used the Kakimori nib that Elf really came to life!
• Kakimori brass nib: Here’s where the magic happens—when you use the Kakimori, Elf bursts with vibrancy! It felt like a wave of elves rushing in, full of holiday cheer, as if they had just come down from the shelf to play.

Final Thoughts

Elf is a fun, vibrant green, perfect for those of you who want to add a little extra Christmas cheer to your writing. It’s a bit light on the finer nibs, but the thicker nibs really bring out the magic. And with that playful elf energy, it’s sure to bring some extra festive fun to your ink collection.
