Hey Honeys!
Day 21 brings us a warm and earthy tone that’s perfect for this time of year—Roasted Chestnut. Imagine that first taste of a freshly roasted chestnut on a crisp winter’s day, and you’ve got this ink. It’s a reddish-brown, almost like the rich, deep leather of an old journal. It’s nutty, cozy, and perfect for when you want to add a little rustic charm to your writing.
Today’s Colour: Roasted Chestnut
This one’s a beauty—a leather brown with just a hint of reddish warmth. It’s not too intense, but just enough to make it feel like a classic brown, one that could almost replace your typical black for those special occasions. The ink’s colour feels grounded and earthy, bringing to mind those cozy, wintery days spent by the fire, roasting chestnuts.
Testing the Ink
- Dominant Industry Ink Muddler (glass nib): The glass nib didn’t seem to work as well with this one, as it felt like the ink was absorbed by the paper rather quickly. It left a faint impression, not bold, and certainly a bit faded.
- Sailor Hocoro (medium nib): With the medium nib, the ink came out smoother, but still had that tendency to fade into the paper, making it difficult to keep consistent. Not quite as deep as I’d hoped, but it still had that leathery look.
- Kakimori brass nib: The Kakimori brought out the best of this ink, though it still felt like the ink was trying to sink into the paper. It gave a more consistent colour, but that paper-eating effect remained noticeable.
Final Thoughts
Roasted Chestnut is a warm, earthy brown with a bit of a rustic vibe to it. It has the potential to be a staple for those who love browns, but the paper seems to really suck it up, making it tough to get a consistent flow from the nibs. Still, it’s a nice colour to experiment with if you’re looking for a nutty brown to add some texture to your writing!
Catch the ink in action in the video below! It’s definitely a fun one to try, even if it can be a little elusive when it comes to getting the perfect consistency.
Stay grounded, Honeys—stay nutty and cosy!
