Hey Honeys!
It’s Day 24—the final stretch, and what a way to close out the Inkvent Calendar with Solstice. This dark, shimmery grey has a mysterious quality, perfect for reflecting on the quiet beauty of the night before Christmas. The perfect ink to get you in the mood to make sure your presents are under the tree and your milk and cookies are ready for Santa!
Today’s Colour: Solstice
A stunningly dark grey, almost charcoal, with an irresistible shimmer that catches the light just right. It’s a truly unique ink in this collection—sophisticated and deep, yet with just enough shine to feel magical. If you’re looking for something different that feels elegant and reflective, this is your ink.
Testing the Ink
Dominant Industry Ink Muddler (glass nib): The Muddler really gave life to Solstice, as the shimmer was clearly visible in the line. It spread well across the paper and didn’t struggle with flow, making it a great ink for more refined writing or journaling.
Sailor Hocoro (medium nib): The medium nib allowed for a smooth, consistent line, and Solstice really showed off that gentle shimmer. The dark grey tone was rich without being too heavy, giving it just the right amount of elegance.
Kakimori brass nib: The Kakimori brass nib worked wonders with Solstice, providing a deeper line with a touch of shimmer. I love how the shimmer appeared as a subtle sparkle in the dark ink—it gave it a festive but grounded feel.
Final Thoughts
Solstice is a standout ink in this calendar—dark, reflective, and filled with shimmer. It has a quiet intensity, perfect for the final day of Inkvent. It’s very different from the other colours in this collection, but in the best way possible. It makes me think of Christmas Eve, calm and full of anticipation.
Can you believe this is the second last blog for the year? It’s bittersweet, but what an incredible journey it’s been exploring all these inks with you, Honeys!
I hope you’re prepared for Christmas, and don’t forget to leave out those milk and cookies for Santa. You’ve earned it!
