Hey Honeys!
Day 11 of the Diamine Inkvent Calendar brings us Mistletoe, a green that’s anything but the bright, festive hue I expected. Instead, it’s a muted military green—very earthy and grounded. If you’ve ever seen camouflage fatigues, you’re in the ballpark here. Maybe mistletoe in real life is more subdued than the Christmas pop culture version? Either way, it’s a natural, understated green with a charm of its own.
Today’s Colour: Mistletoe
This ink leans into a subdued, earthy vibe rather than standing out with vibrancy. It feels more “winter forest” than “festive tinsel,” which isn’t a bad thing—it just has its own mellow personality.
Testing the Ink
- Dominant Industry Ink Muddler (glass nib): Came through with clean, defined strokes. The colour’s muted tone is evident here, but I may have under-loaded the nib, so it wasn’t quite as rich as it could have been.
- Sailor Hocoro (medium nib): This added depth to the green, laying it down more evenly. The earthy tone came alive a little more but remained subdued.
- Kakimori brass nib: A solid performer as always, though I took too long applying it. My pauses left the ink slightly blotchy, but even then, it still looked great—perhaps even more rustic for it.
Final Thoughts
Mistletoe might not be the vibrant green I imagined, but its natural, grounded tone feels unique and calming. I could see this being a perfect ink for sketching landscapes or writing in a nature journal. While it’s not a showstopper, it’s definitely one that grows on you. All is good in the green hood, after all!
Thanks for sticking around, Honeys. Check out the video below for more details and a closer look at today’s earthy ink in action. Don’t forget to come back tomorrow for Day 12—this calendar keeps surprising us!
Cheers,
